“I’m really proud of it. We’ve created an environment that’s really welcoming, that’s super warm—you can have something that’s interesting and not feel that anyone thinks you’re stupid, you’re not feeling belittled by coming in and not knowing what something is. [When the restaurant is packed] it’s just such a rush. When you see happy guests, when you hear the dining room and it’s buzzing, when people are having a good time; nothing beats that feeling.”

Such are the words of Jason Alley, chef and partner at both Pasture and Comfort in Richmond, VA. After developing a self-proclaimed obsession with food at a young age, Jason set his sights on reimagining southern comfort food, and the results have been, well, delicious.
